Does Energy Vault have a battery energy storage system?
The last bit of recent Energy Vault news is that it has successfully installed a large (69MW / 275MWh) battery energy storage system at the Stanton Energy Reliability Center in southern California. The battery installation is now being operated at full capacity by Energy Vault’s partner in this project, Wellhead.
What is Energy Vault?
In addition to its unique GESS offering, Energy Vault is one of a crowded field of competitors providing storage orchestration software to grid operators and designing and coordinating the construction of grid-scale battery and fuel-cell storage facilities. In 2019, Energy Vault secured funding from Cemex before going on to secure $110m of Series B funding to become the first energy storage investment of the SoftBank Vision Fund, and won Fast Company's World Changing Idea Award for transformative utility-scale energy storage.
Who owns Energy Vault?
In 2020, Energy Vault was Named Technology Pioneer by World Economic Forum and completed the mechanical construction of the first of its kind, grid-scale testing tower in Castione-Arbedo, Ticino, Switzerland. In 2021, Energy Vault announced investments from Saudi Aramco Energy, and other existing investors.

Having listed on the New York Stock Exchange earlier this year, the firm now publishes quarterly results.
Does Energy Vault have a GESS system?
In January, Energy Vault announced it had signed an exclusive 10-year agreement with a South African consortium called GESSOL for access to Energy Vault’s GESS technology and VaultOS orchestration software (used in GESS, battery, fuel cell, or hybrid installations) throughout the 16 member-state Southern African Development Community.
