The company bought JBM Solar from renewables investor Susgen for an undisclosed sum. Based in London, JBM Solar was established in 2012 and has a workforce of around 30 employees.
Will JBM solar join RWE in the UK?
“I’m very pleased to welcome our new colleagues from JBM Solar and to jointly drive forward the green expansion of RWE in the UK.” The deal will add a mature pipeline of more than 6GWac to RWE’s portfolio, including 3.8GWac of solar capacity and 2.3GWac worth of battery storage projects.
Why did susgen sell JBM solar?
The successful sale of JBM Solar enables Susgen to focus on identifying new partners to accelerate the transition to Net Zero, whilst also enabling the development of a 4GW pipeline under its standalone battery storage developer, Alcemi. This transaction follows Susgen’s successful exit from Urban Grid to Brookfield Renewable in early 2022.
How big will the solar industry be in 2026?
The government also has ambitious goals for the expansion of battery storage: its capacity is expected to more than quadruple within four years – from 1.5 GW today to 6.5 GW in 2026. The JBM Solar business comes with a team of around 30 professionals with extensive and long-standing experience in the solar sector.
