The European Social Survey (ESS) is a pan-European research infrastructure providing freely accessible data for academics, policymakers, civil society and the wider public. CRONOS (CROss-National Online Survey) - establishing the first cross-national probability-based input-harmonised web panel.
What does the ESS do?
The ESS functions as a network: Eurostat's role is to lead the way in harmonising statistics in close cooperation with the national statistical authorities. The work of the ESS focusses mainly on key EU priorities, but with the expansion of EU policies, harmonisation has been extended to practically all statistical fields.
Does Poland provide statistics to Eurostat?
Polish official statistics, especially Statistics Poland, as its main coordinator, is obliged to provide statistical information at many levels. One of them is transfer of European statistics to Eurostat by GUS. The data sent annually to the statistical office of the European Union is characterized by the highest flow rate.
How does Eurostat work?
The EU and EFTA countries collect data and compile statistics for national and EU purposes. The ESS functions as a network: Eurostat's role is to lead the way in harmonising statistics in close cooperation with the national statistical authorities.
