Introduction
This chapter discusses the fundamentals of phase change materials (PCMs), how they function, thermal energy aug-mentation in PCMs, commercially accessible PCMs, and active and passive solar heating systems. This chapter presents a detailed study of PCMs usage for solar . Efficient storage of heat energy is a crucial challenge in solar thermal applications. Phase change materials (PCMs) have gained prominence due to their unique ability to store and release thermal energy through phase transition. The advantageous characteristic of PCMs is their low melting point. Due to the intermittent nature of solar radiation, phase change materials are excellent options for use in several types of solar energy systems. This overview of the relevant literature thoroughly discusses the applications of phase change materials, including solar collectors, solar stills, solar. To store renewable energy, superior thermal properties of advanced materials such as phase change materials are essentially required to enhance maximum utilization of solar energy and for improvement of energy and exergy efficiency of the solar absorbing system.
