Currently only 400 households have 8 hours of electricity a day. The clean energy pilots are being implemented by Innovation Energie Développement (IED) in close collaboration with Cambodian Ministry of Mining Industry and Energy (MIME) and the Electricity Authority of Cambodia (EAC).
Who owns the electricity in Cambodia?
EdC sells 90% of the electricity used in Cambodia. EdC is co-owned by MIME and the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF). Independent Power Producers (IPPs) provide 89% of the electricity produced in Cambodia, and sells it to the EdC. The Public Electricity Utility (PEU) is the owner and operator of state-owned power plants.
