Introduction
This chapter discusses the fundamentals of phase change materials (PCMs), how they function, thermal energy augmentation in PCMs, commercially accessible PCMs, and active and passive solar heating systems. This overview of the relevant literature thoroughly discusses the applications of phase change materials, including solar collectors, solar stills, solar ponds, solar air heaters, and solar chimneys. Despite the complexity of their availability and high costs, phase change materials are utilized in. Efficient storage of heat energy is a crucial challenge in solar thermal applications. Phase change materials (PCMs) have gained prominence due to their unique ability to store and release thermal energy through phase transition. The advantageous characteristic of PCMs is their low melting point. The use of phase change materials is one of the potential methods for storing solar energy (PCMs).
