Could other energy resources play a role in Azerbaijan's economy?
Azerbaijan is exploring the role other energy resources may play in its economy. This October, the 230 megawatts Garadagh Solar Power Plant — the largest in the Caspian region and the CIS — was inaugurated. It’s the first industrial-scale solar power plant realised by attracting foreign investment of around $262 million in the country.
Why is Azerbaijan a Space Hub?
Azerbaijan showcased how its space efforts have grown since 1973, while also highlighting its role as a transportation, business and space centre in the region. It also provided an opportunity for leading space companies to meet with potential European, Middle Eastern and Central and East Asian participants.
Who manages satellites in Azerbaijan?
At present, all satellites are managed in the country by Azerbaijani specialists only, and Azerbaijan has developed the Technest Scholarship Programme with the goal of doubling its IT graduates, bringing 3,000 new people into the workforce by the end of 2023.
Does Azerbaijan have a satellite network?
Besides this effort to future-proof its economy, Azerbaijan has been able to provide connectivity and TV/radio to its most remote regions. Beyond the country’s borders, the satellite range reaches an array of markets across Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East, the Caucasus region, and Africa.
