The Government of South Georgia & the South Sandwich Islands issues Regulated Activity Permit (RAP) for certain types of activities. There are three categories of application depending on the complexity of your project.

The South Sandwich Islands, actively volcanic, consist of a 390-km-long chain of 11 main islands. Fisheries in the South Georgia Maritime Zone are managed using an ecosystem approach aiming to conserve the marine environment.

The South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands MPA was designated in 2012, with additional provisions implemented in 2013, and further enhanced measures announced in 2018 following the first 5-year MPA review.
